Chris Woon-Chen is an neurodivergent filmmaker, musician and composer whose work has a hard time escaping the trappings of identity and self indulgence. His artistic endeavors seek to share the deep observations, diversity of interests, and rich inner life of his quietude, perhaps in an effort to state:
I am human too! I laugh, hurt, and love deeply.
Past documentary films have explored intersections of Hip Hop, Youth, Elders, Family, and Asian American identity, not always at the same time.
Musical influences ranges from Madlib, J Dilla and the RZA, to Alice Coltrane, Joe Henderson, Archie Shepp, Roscoe Mitchell, and Herbie Hancock to friend/collaborator PC Muñoz, Francis Wong, 10.4 Rog, and more.
